Wire Grind has released Noise Gate Plus, a VST 2 and 3 plug-in effect for 32- and 64-bit Windows.
Noise Gate Plus is a noise gate that includes several features unique to Wire Grind's effects line. Noise Gate Plus has several special controls that use time, logic, and probability to control the gate. It also uses a special anti-click gating algorithm. Noise gates typically produce a clicking noise when using either a short attack time or a short release time. Wire Grind's algorithm is able to virtually eliminate this type of noise.
The special controls are Attack Delay, Early Release, Hold Closed, and Beat Skip. The last of these is a feature that probabilistically mutes audio events and it borderlines on automatic computer improvisation. Noise Gate Plus bears similarity to Wire Grind's Advanced Noise Gate. The most obvious difference is the redesigned user interface. Noise Gate Plus also adds a hysteresis control, and its envelopes differ slightly. Notably, Noise Gate Plus lacks the various equalization controls found on Advanced Noise Gate. This has resulted in a more simple interface which might appeal to some users.
