rgc:audio have updated sfz to v1.4.1 and with it introduced the first stage of the sfz format.
Basically, the first stage allows creating complete instruments using a text editor, using simple wave files of 16/24/32-bits in any samplerate or compressed ogg-vorbis files, arranging the samples in unlimited keyboard and velocity layers, and adjusting the basic parameters of each sample to make them work together.
The format is simple, minimalistic, expandable and free, you can find out more at rgc:audio's sfz format page.
