LazySnake

I've been looking for a good free VST plugin emulation of a electric piano for ages & here it is! Not as sophisticated as MrRay but a lot more stable & a lot less cpu hungry, LazySnake can be very usefull when one wants to create warm ambient chords & textures. The Wha & the Tremolo can be synced to your host tempo which is cool since they sound good. The bass & treble parameters are usefull to make quick adjustements without having to load a VST EQ just to cut bass or treble. The GUI is sharp, clear & effective.
You can create some realistic sounding rhodes with it but more digital than "analog". I'm using it mainly to create smooth sounds so the overdrive & hardness section are not usefull for me. I did try them but didn't find them very good to be honest, the hardness is ok but I think it would be better using an external overdrive if you want to play with a more crunchy rhodes!

I would say if you're into electronic type of music LazySnake is the way to go. If you're into other type of music there's always MrRay.

ErsDrums

I've been using ersDrums for half & a year now & I think it's a very good drum synth with some excellent sounds. The kick is deep & thumping & can be easily adjusted, all the basic control are there. The snare is your average electro type snaredrum, basically a short noise with a sine kick underneath it, a little weak but with proper FXs & processing you can get very good sounding snares. The synthetic closed & open hat are not too good in my opinion, not that they are bad, they are the type of hi hats you can find on Casio VL-Tone keyboards, cheap sounding but it can be good if you're into lo-fi type of music.
The GUI is very clear & easy to use, the ability to edit the skin like LazySnake would be a welcome addition.
One of the thing I like about it is that it very low on the cpu, since I use FL Studio I need to load one ersDrums for each drum sounds that I will processed in the FX section, with around 4 ersDrums & 10 VST effects my computer is at (depending on the effects used) 50%, nice!
