Drumagog

Version reviewed: 4 on Mac

I am a studio engineer of some 25 years. I have run Drumagog on a PC setup for 3 years, and have recently cross-graded to the latest version 4, and a Dual 2.5GHZ Mac with Pro Tools 6.9 and the Digidesign 002 Desk.

Extremely similar to the PC version, I was up and running in no time - something worth mentioning to others who might be considering changing from one platform to another.

The program its self works fine on my system. I ran it through a live recording of a White Snake cover band. This was the first time I had actually used Drumagog to its full potential. Kick Drum, Snare Drum, 3 seperate Tom tracks and 4 percussion tracks. Drumagog sailed through its testing with high accuracy and great satisfaction.

I like the way the software offers the possibility of not just exchanging sounds, but also blending them. On this take for example, the Kick drum was excellent, albeit a little too closed in. Adding one of Drumagogs own downloadable sample files cured this problem immediately, allowing me to blend the sample with the original as required. Impressive.

Drumagog is not a soft-synth style plug-in, but a true (and extremely accurate) drum replacement module. I have used it on just about every mix I have done these past 3 years and will continue to do so with great joy with version 4.

A serious, professional and fun software. Highly recommended!
