Escape reality and discover the beauty of imperfection with Trash.
Reintroducing Trash
With an intuitive interface engineered for inspiration, get ready to create and destroy. From subtle warmth to sonic mutations, everything is possible with Trash.
Trash module
Take your sound in new warped directions, or just have fun mashing things up with over 60 distortion types, like Rusty Bits, Cactus, Noise Art, and Distropia. Blend together up to four different distortion settings with an intuitive XY pad. Plus, add dynamics and movement by modulating the Drive control, which controls the intensity of the distortion, and carve out frequencies for a dramatic effect with the Tilt control.
Convolve module
Morph your track into other objects and spaces with over 600 creative impulse responses, including reverse reverbs, piano cabinets, and plexiglass tubes. Blend up to four IRs together with the XY pad and explore new dimensions of sound. Plus, the Impulse Response Loader lets you upload any audio file to bring its sonic characteristics into your track, whether it's your cat's meow or the latest viral clip.
Multiband
Shape specific parts of your audio by splitting it into low, mid, and high frequency bands. You can add a little distortion to just one part of the spectrum, or go wild and mess everything up.
Envelope Follower
Spice up boring loops with Trash's dynamic distortion capabilities, allowing you to create sounds that blend through one another. Discover sounds you never thought were possible with this intuitive Envelope Follower.
Now on iPad
Trash is the first iZotope tool to be released for iPad. Compatible with Logic Pro for iPad using the AUv3 format, Trash is your perfect portable companion. Sold separately on the Apple App Store.

Really unfortunate to see what as been done with this plugin. While this plugin itself is not bad, Trash 2 was superior in many ways, such as having a delay, modulatable EQ, and a mastering section, while this only features the distortion and convolve modules. This may be enough for many, however Trash 2 is capable of custom waveshapes, while this is not. Some may find the UI to be better in this iteration, and I understand why, however I think this new UI is visually more boring then Trash 2.
I would argue it isn't really worth even the upgrade price, as even it's most unique feature (that being the morphing of four different shapes) can be done to a greater degree with other plugins like BLEASS's Fusion, which not only is less expensive then the upgrade price, it allows you to use full wavetables as distortion curves. Even Trash 2 to an extent could morph the waveshape.
Not a bad plugin, however it is very disappointing compared to the previous iteration.
Read ReviewThis is a serious disappointment. It was an instant upgrade for me when I saw it in the store - I love Trash 2 so much.
But...It doesn't distort as hard as Trash 2. There's no compressor module. There's no delay module. There's no pre and post filtering. The number of filters has been cut back to one. No EQ.
And worst of all? They removed the custom wave shaping that made Trash 2 special.
Not to mention the "new improved interface" can't be resized. In 2024.
This does have some nice new features, The X-Y pads are a nice touch. You can customize across frequency bands. There's a new convolve module. And finally there's an auto-gain feature, which is nice given how many times I feared for my speakers with Trash 2.
All said, though, despite the nice additions Trash 2 was better than Trash 3 is.
It's useable, but sadly, given its heritage, there are better distortion plugins out there.
