Tachyon Audio Time Stretch is a stand-alone application that does only one thing: time stretching audio files.

Tachyon Audio Time Stretch is designed for the highest possible quality rather than for speed. A fast CPU is required, and only off-line processing is possible.

Features:

  • Time stretch any music, track, speech or sound by any amount between 4 times slower and 4 times faster.
  • Professional-grade audio quality, based on state-of-the-art algorithms.
  • Support mono, stereo and multi-channel (5.1, 7.1) audio files. Fully preserve the stereo / spatial field.
  • Load and save WAVE (*.wav), AIFF/AIFC (*.aiff, *.aifc) and AU Sun/NeXT (*.au) audio files, in PCM 16-bit / 24-bit integer, or in 32-bit IEEE floating point format. Also load FLAC, OGG, OPUS, MP3 and M4A (AAC/ALAC) files.
  • Support sampling rates from 8 kHz to 384 kHz.
  • The time stretching factor can be specified in many ways: length change, speed change, length from/to, tempo from/to, video FPS from/to, etc.
  • Accurate to a single sample (with sub-sample accuracy internally).
  • Transform multiple audio files simultaneously on multi-core computers.
  • Four quality settings (default 4 - highest quality) are available. Real-time processing speed on most computers with quality setting 1 (lowest).
  • Integrated mini player to preview the result before it is fully transformed.

Best time stretch algorithm that I have found, sounds natural on different sources.

Saves me a lot of time.

Quite incredible. I feel like I've stumbled upon some hidden holy grail. Speeding up is relatively uniform across most time-stretchers, losing material, or making things smaller is easier, you have the material to play with - but slowing down is a whole other calculation. Making more of something from less takes some high level of processing, and some delicacy when it comes to transients. Bear in mind this is not real-time (the developer would be a millionaire from this if it were so), this is calculated, and sometimes it take up to 5-10 times longer than the file, but the results are nothing short of impressive. Don't take my word for it, the demo give you a 30 second window to play with. Find a track with short delicate top end percussion and hear how they are kept (more) intact, compared to pretty much any other off line stretcher I have used. Extremely high quality. Don't tell everyone, I want it to myself. I know of one other time stretch app that works a little better, but for the money, this should be more known.
