Anybody feel like this is still worth using? I know it's a fairly old VST but how much can you really improve a delay effect? How bad can an old one be? I do not know the answers to these questions.

I know it's been 4 years since you asked but have you tried it and see how it sounds?

I thought it had a really bad gui and nothing particularly special about the sound. The knobs are the weird simulated kind where you have to move your mouse in the arc of the turn; it's a chore.

There's another one in the pack of old Steinberg plugins tho, VB-1. It's supposed to be a bass guitar but it's nothing like a bass guitar-- that's a lot of fun and I suggest playing with that one.

Since you're looking at a VST that's about 20+ years old, yeah, it's limited. But it still works, and it's been updated to 64-bit, which is cool, as Steinberg has nothing but goodwill to gain from doing so...

But for what it does, it does simply enough, and we might not like the GUI, all the controls are there and clear.

And re: VB-1, as you've found, like another famous "bass" instrument (303), it's not the failed emulation that counts, but what it can be in-and-of-itself.

The "Classics Vol 1" package from Steinberg has the Model-1, which is a pretty decent sounding (and, because of its age, VERY modest on CPU resources) subtractive synth in the Minimoog mode. Worth checking out, too.

(I wish Steinberg would make some of their other old VST/DX effects available. They had a terrifically fake vinyl simulator.).
