echo | collective has released Little Boxes sample and instrument library, a curated collection of four sound sets designed to complement each other sonically and texturally. These textures move from acoustic to electroacoustic to analog synthesis. Each instrument was miked or directly recorded in mono, providing 3.71 GB of thick, punchy recordings in 24-bit / 96kHz.
A collection of 79 Kontakt instruments then break the sounds into stereo and push the source material much deeper into its potential.
- Box 1 is an earthquake detector - small apparatus meant to be hung flat on the wall. It has four suspended wooden balls that swing and strike the strings if the ground begins to move.
- Box 2 is the folktek microgarden - a handmade electroacoustic device featuring a copper plate with sprigs of guitar strings poking through, and a variety of onboard effects.
- Box 3 is the MFO Weird Sound Generator - A highly expressive DIY analog synth built from a kit.
- Box 4 is the Dementia Labs Optical Theremin - another DIY synth, this one entirely unlabelled and modulated with an elaborate patch bay and a light sensor.
Price: $55. Includes the full collection of all 24-bit / 96kHz recordings, 79 Kontakt instruments, and photography. A lite version with no Kontakt instruments and a sampling rate of 16-bit, 44k is available for $30.
