AIR releases seven new plugins as the start of a new range

-
AIR Music Technology

AIR Music Technology has announced the release of seven new Virtual Instruments, all available at the KVR Marketplace with special introductory pricing starting at $29. They say:

Based in Germany, AIR Music Technology started as Wizoo Sound Design, one of the earliest pioneers in virtual instrument technology. The AIR team is responsible for the core of much of the effects and instrument offerings in Avid's Pro Tools and Akai Professionals MPC software/OS. AIR is also well known for its award-winning virtual instruments bundle AIEP 3.

Leveraging this history of excellence, AIR is back in a big way for 2022. AIR is excited to bring the first group of many all-new releases this year so stay tuned.

The new range results from nearly five years of development leveraging over twenty years of experience and research into high-quality emulation, FX and Synthesis. The 7 new plug-ins support VST, VST 3, AU and AAX formats and also operate as standalone desktop software for "Plug and Play" performance with any MIDI controller.

AIR has developed a login based system to authorize on three computers at a time the following brand new plug-ins:

Bassline - Vacuum Evolved

Bassline is a monophonic vintage synthesizer featuring Vacuum Tube Synthesis with an evolved version of AIR's vacuum tube circuit modelling technology.

Electric - Reference Electric Piano

Electric is a complete electric piano collection. Choose from a comprehensive array of legendary keyboards like Rhodes, Wurlitzers, FM keyboards, and more developed over decades of research. Electric builds upon the legacy of AIR Velvet with a new range of powerful features and sounds.

Hype

Hype is a hybrid synthesizer plug-in instrument with features that extend far beyond its preset library. Cover everything from hard-hitting plucks to sultry melodic leads with this preset and macro-based synth combining multiple synth engines (wavetable, FM, virtual analogue, multi-sample) all in one easy to use interface.

Mellotron - AIR's Homage to the original

The new Mellotron plug-in instrument is a recreation of the legendary tape sample keyboard machine featured on countless classic Rock albums.

Odyssey - Journey Into Sound

From the creators of the timeWARP2600 and Kick Axe instruments, WayOutWare. WayOutWare worked to capture the behaviour, character and charm of the original ARP Odyssey. With Expression pedal modulation, velocity and channel pressure support built-in every attention to detail and realism has been made.

Solina - Strings evolved

The AIR Solina Plugin is based on the classic 6-timbre polyphonic keyboard instrument featuring Contrabass, Cello, Viola, Violin, Trumpet and Horn selections with independent volume, pan and pitch control.

Tube Synth

Tube Synth is designed to leverage the next generation of advanced analogue modelling technology first debuted in their desktop plugin synth Vacuum Pro.

Possibly some interesting products here, but too many "me too" products for my liking in the announcement (just how many Mellotron, Electric Piano, Solina and ARP Odyssey plugins do we really need - and what is their unique selling point)...

BUT it would a better announcement if AIR also talked about how they were supported their older products rather than, as it currently appears, abandoning them! They still (probably a year or two on from them becoming aware of the issue) have not fixed the issues with some of the existing products that they are still actively selling and promoting (Ignite, Loom Classic and Structure2 which are also in bundles they are promoting) all three of which cause Windows 10/11 PCs (except old, probably unsupported versions of Windows 10) to bluescreen after they are installed ---- apparently this is because they have not updated the installers on these products to use the latest version of iLok which causes the problem.

And I've still not heard any answers back (in fact, no response at all) from a question a month or so ago about what AIR are doing about VST3 versions of their existing products now that Steinberg have announced removal of VST2 from their products in the coming 2 years.

AiR are TERRible when it comes to product support and I appreciate you posting this. I've asked for assistance with numerous purchases going back 2 years now and have yet to receive any helpful response. KVR, I want to mention, have assisted best the could with getting me in direct contact with a rep at AiR, but they ultimate just don't respond beyond the "did you turn it off and on again? Uninstall and reinstall? Does it work now?" type of troubleshooting that is just deflecting blame onto the user, when it is common knowledge that ball is in AiR's court, they've publicly promised to fix the issues in the updated installers at he beginning of 2021, updates which did nothing to fix my issues....anyway, they shouldn't be selling faulty software even if it is in bundles of three for $9.99.

This are simply the synths they added to the MPC software.

OK, so that's why the "me too" list of products, and actually seems more indicative of inMusic trying to milk the brand than actually innovating - and still does not get around the fact that they are announcing "brand new" products while they still have not even fixed their existing products that are still for sale --- so that users buying AIEP Select, AIEP Complete or Creative Collection as well as individual Ignite, Loom Classic and Structure2 products will be getting software that can BlueScreen their Windows PCs when installed.
