18 and a half minutes in. Youtube won't let me clip it direct at that time stamp for some reason. White noise sound. No idea how you do that, and I don't think it's a sample either.

I wonder if it's included as a preset in the Arturia version? I will check it out later today.

EDIT: I just went through many presets for Pads, Strings, and Sound Effects and couldn't find something just like it.

yeah, I checked before posting. I was sure they had a noise based preset, but nothing I coudl find. I also have a bunch of imported banks and nothing.

I just loaded up the Timbre DIsk 3 and a preset called Bass Tamborine is basically the same as the MJ Beat It sound (can't remember the preset name).

Thanks, but that wasn't the sound I'm after. The sound at the timestamp I mentioned is the one I'm after, which is also the very first sound you hear on Kiew Mission.

I'd call it rather a gong sound than white noise. Made with FM for sure. I think you get this sort of things when an operator modulates its own frequency. For me it's black magic.
Good luck hunting it down!

Here's what I came up with for the Kiew Mission gong sound. It's exported from the Arturia emulation so I've no idea if it's cross compatible, or if anyone else here uses that. But here it is anyway

confusingly, there are two gong-like sounds at the start of the track. the one requested here, which is perhaps more of a tam-tam sound, and the "phased gong" that shares a lot of dna with the famous Michael jackson "beat" it gong. that 2022 preset I think is the phased-gong one.

Ok, again to be clear. It's the very first sound you hear on Kiew Mission, and it's the sound at the timestampe on the clip I linked. This is not the Beat It preset that appears later on in the aforementioned song. Instead it's a atonal white noise based sound. I don't know how you generate that on the synclavier because there isn't an obvious noise source.
