Help me identify this, please!

Hi everybody - this is a search I do every now and then. I have this song that was recorded in the middle of the night sometime in the early 80's (I can't remember exactly) by a friend of mine. I've been trying to find out what it is ever since, I love it a lot (and I mean A LOT).

I know this might sound rude and impolite, but please don't give me theories, I've already heard and checked all of them for decades - I know what it might have been and what it is not, I need to know what it is.

...at the risk of just being theoretical; could it be something from the band, Asia? the guitar opening is 'like' something from ELP.

I can't check their whole discography, but I did check some of their tracks out in the past when somebody suggested them and they sound way too "commercial" and (forgive me for saying this) corny to have been able to produce such an emotional track

Hey mate, you must be going nut's! I have heard that on Smart phones there is an downloadable App where you can record the song into the phone, text it and apparently it tells you who the Artist is!!! I hope there is and you can sleep at night again...........Good luck friend!
