creating vst instruments.

I'm new to this site, and maybe you already have the info available here. But I am looking to create my own vst instruments. I've made images of my own lil beat machines and keyboards in photoshop, but I want to use the images as a graphic interface for vst instruments. But I don't know how you take the sounds you want and program it into one, could someone please help me in learning what to do or tell me a thread that gives instruction? It would be very much appreaciated
