...without using a guitar. Okay I do have a guitar, with a pod, but I dont want to make a mess setting it up with all the cables and stuff.
Want to go for the Sigur Ros, Ladytron type pads which are realyl full sounding to pad out my songs. Is it possible to create this type of sound without a guitar?
Looking more at subtractive synth techniques to make it. Cos Im trying to get down to learning 2 synths properly - thats 3xOSC and impOSCar.
thanks

Shoegazey sounds with guitars was basically overusing a combination of overdrive, synced delay and chorus or phasers here and there.
I think Ladytron discovered, when playing live, that they could have a whole new range of sounds (compared to the first two records) by plugging their Korgs into guitaramps.
So; load up a VSTi and add an ampsim and/with delay, chorus and reverb. And basically start experimenting from there.

From the free ones I'd try this:

The JCM900 is the best free one. You can read about other options here:
