How to do this, that and the other. Share, learn, teach. How did X do that? How can I sound like Y?

Penance in Hell for you, Beardedone!!!!

Joy Division were one of the greatest groups ever, and the stuff that New Order came out with when they really tried was peerless

(Fine Time, Perfect Kiss, Temptation... swoon!)

When were New Order active? Fairly recently within the last 5 years or so? I am papably ignorant regarding any Rock/Pop newer than 20 years hence. Up until the last few years I was only listeing to Jazz/Classical with FZ the only exception.
Ah, although New Order had a new album out last month, it was only the third that they have had out in the last 15 years :o

Loads in the 1980s, mind. Check out the older ones

Technique, Power Corruption & Lies, Brotherhood - great stuff :D

Leave Beardy alone...at least he would not have had to suffer one of the worst and overrated pop songs ever...Blue Monday.

I have read the names of course but never heard the music of course.
I'm sure you've heard "Blue Monday", an hit from the 80s.

To treat me like you do

Also, last album "Waiting for the siren" worth a check...

Nope! Never heard it. Honest. Don't listen to Radio other than NPR or CBC.

Weren't New Order partial to PPGs?

Blue Monday - Best selling 12" single of all time. You have heard it.

Joy Division -- Totally essential. Singer Ian Curtis commited suicide 25 years ago this month (May 18, 1980). The anniversary is on the cover of every music magazine right now.
And all life's fears
Can invade my ears
I can handle it

dunno if they used teh PPG but, I do remember specifically them mentioning the Voyetra 8 in an article in Keyboard around the time of Technique. They talked about it's obscurity and it's difficultness but how it had a specific sound they liked. They also talked about how they were starting to sample it because it had started to get a little road worn or something to that effect.

that link has a list of some gear they were using just prior to Technique
Dr Rhythm eh? I wonder if they had the same syncing problems I've had..

I will look for it. I'll ask some of my younger buddies (I know the lead singer of a local band called "Jamie Rocks" who is sure to know JD and NO) I'll borrow some discs and listen.

I have missed so much music - I recently heard some Nine Inch Nails that wasn't bad at all.

My Dr Rhythm was a champ CV'd to my SH101. I used the DR Rhythm to send bass pulses to the SH and play, you guessed it, BLUE MONDAY! Those were the days!
