Hamburger distortion unit. Currently in early alpha but totally usable. Supports Linux, Mac and Windows. CLAP too.
https://github.com/Davit-G/Hamburger (click the Releases link on the right of the page to get the latest prebuilt binaries).
Update: the plugin has been updated to version 0.3 and is being sold as PWYW at ko-fi for those that want to support the dev: https://ko-fi.com/s/6e7ded34dc.

Comprez is a simple but fast, versatile compressor plug-in.
It's ready to give you a special compressor experience you may never have before. Although there are only 4 controllers currently, it does not limit your creation.

The developer also has a more conventional website that features a more refined looking v2 of Hamburger with a freely available early access version:sprnva wrote: ↑Sat Apr 06, 2024 10:27 pm Hamburger distortion unit. That's the old version. They've moved it to ko-fi. I got this news in an email yesterday:
There is a linux binary available in the 0.2 alpha release on github. The current version builds fine from source if you want the latest.I just want to update you that I will be releasing my plugins (Hamburger) on Ko-Fi going forward. I believe it is a better place for me to distribute my works for the time being.
As the website is being updated, URLs will be changed to Ko-Fi ones. The version of the plugin on LemonSqueezy is outdated. Newer versions of Hamburger (with performance upgrades, better tones, and a more usable UI) will now be here (Free as stated):

Thanks, one day i'll get my head around github..
That alpha version works fine for me in Reaper (ubuntustudio, clap, native Reaper), Will watch it's development for sure. Maybe i'll try building it.

The linux building is fixed on github now but it hasn't been added to the release links.
You can get it from the bottom of this page. You have to sign in to github for the artifacts to become downloadable.

And in todays episode of "look what I just found on Github" we have The Kiss of Shame. An unreleased tape plugin that is being resurrected. Here's a little bit of the description:
Mac and Windows binaries are available from the releases page. It also builds fine on Linux but you'll have to do this yourself for now.The Kiss of Shame was the worlds first (and perhaps only) tape / analog circuitry emulation plugin that realistically models the effects of magnetic particle instability, lubricant loss, substrate deformation, drift, scrape-flutter, print-through and reel expansion/contraction into a suite of FX processing tools for sound design and music production.
The goal of this open source project is:
To finish the plug-in and make binary releases available. [DONE]
Figure out how it works and document the code for eductional purposes. [DONE]
Potentially, improve the code.
NOTE: The source code that was donated does not contain all the features from the description. Notably, there is only one tape type and one environment (Hurricane Sandy), and the print-through function is missing. In its current form the plug-in only works well at a 44100 Hz sample rate. That said, it's still a fun plug-in with a cool UI, and there's a lot to learn from the source code!

You can snag the VYBE time-bending effect free, for a limited time only!
VYBE seems to target the same niche as plugins like FL Studio’s GrossBeat, MRhythmizer, TimeShaper, and others.
VYBE Plugin Demo
You can do reverses, half-tempo, and fluctuations like with the plugins mentioned before. It ordinarily retails for $20, but you can snag it for free when following the included link.
VYBE has a lot more potential than TIZE, at least when looking at applicability across a wider range of genres. You can engineer tape stops, scratches, and other time-based effects.
I suppose you could also coax it into behaving like a trance gate, given the time divisions at the top of the interface. Where VYBE falls short is the lack of overall control when looking at everything.
Still, for the cost of nothing, these are fun tools to play with over an afternoon. I ordinarily stay pretty selective with what I pay for, but I’m a lot more open to trying things when there isn’t a monetary investment on my end.
Free Download
You can download VYBE and TIZE for free at the included link. Supported operating systems are Windows and Mac.

Good news ! (if you didn't already read about it in the main Effects channel...)
Chris from Airwindows and baconPaul from Surge Synth Team have put their heads together, done some coder stuff, and released "Airwindows Consolidated" - a plugin containing all of Chris's plugs.
Having used a few in the past but been slightly intimidated by the sheer volume of them, it's nice to get them all in one place, categorised, and with some sensible filtering options on the presets menu. Nicely wrapped in a few different plugin formats for Windows, Mac, and Linux. If you've ever used the VCV rack version, you'll know what to expect.
