Hello everyone,
and happy international women's day!
We are about to release minor updates for Satin and Filterscape soon, and as usual, we'd like to do a little sanity check and give you the opportunity to already make use of the new versions by posting release candidates here on KVR. Your support is crucial in finding any remaining bugs and quirks, so please give it a go and let us know if you come across any oddities.
Satin 1.3.3
The jump from version 1.3.2 to 1.3.3 seems small, but for us, it's quite a significant update, adding CLAP and native Silicon AAX support, dealing with a peculiar sample rate issue, fixing many more bugs and quirks as well as adding lots of overall improvements.
With this update, Satin gets the eagerly awaited native Silicon AAX support. A big thank you for your patience, we know it took a while. Additionally, lots of Pro Tools specific issues have been dealt with, so please give it a good spin if you are an avid Pro Tools user.
Satin also gets official CLAP support with this update. Please let us know if anything doesn't work as expected in your CLAP hosts.
The update also deals with a sample rate issue a user made us aware of. Some parts of the plugin will naturally cause slight differences in sound depending on the used sample rate, there is no way around it. But we tried to minimize or eradicate any differences in sound and in the analyser display wherever possible. If you want to know more, there is a dedicated page in the user guide explaining the issue.
Filterscape 1.5.1
Filterscape receives a small bugfix update, correcting a few oopsies that slipped into the 1.5.0 update.
The AU version now works in Digital Performer. The registration dialog works on more Linux systems. And dialogs scale better on Windows.
VST3 migration support
There is one more quite important detail to mention.
Both Satin and Filterscape got VST3 migration support with this update.
Projects created using the VST2 version can now replace it with the VST3 version automatically if the VST2 is no longer installed AND if your host supports this feature.
Currently many hosts either don't support VST3 migration at all, or they do not properly support the IPluginCompatibility method yet.
It works well in Steinberg and Native Instruments hosts. If you know of any other hosts that already support this method, please let us know, so we can test it.
If it doesn't work in your host, but you'd very much like to replace VST2 with VST3, please consider asking the host developers to have a look at the IPluginCompatibility interface and to integrate it in a future update.
Changes in licensing force us to fade out VST2 support from new releases in the coming months, so VST3 migration support is crucial if you want to continue working on older projects while using the latest versions of u-he plugins. VST2 versions of u-he plugins won't be around for much longer, so the time to urge host developers to properly support all migration methods is now. If you want to keep using the VST2 plugin format for any good reason, then please consider contacting Steinberg, explaining your situation. This thread is not the place to discuss this, as it's simply not in our power to do anything about it.

Just checked out the updated Satin. It seems to work as it did for me before the update, but it's great to have it back in Pro Tools AAX.
Only thing: When I insert Satin in Logic there's a big "Legacy"-Text behind the presetname. What's that about? It's not there in Cubase or Pro Tools.
Cheers,
Jan

Never mind: Found the passage about Legacy-mode in the new user guide. Logic used my saved default-preset, that was created in an earlier version, so Satin used the Legacy-mode.jnchristp wrote: βFri Mar 08, 2024 8:08 am Just checked out the updated Satin. Thanks guys, I have been using Diva (unofficially) in VST3 migration mode in Cubase and Komplete Kontrol since you guys stealthily added it in a couple of betas back (I simply deleted the VST2 that the installer insists on installing). Have had no issues and don't expect I will with these either. Many thanks for the continued support and your hard work.

It was still work in progress back then. We further improved it by now, so the next Diva update will also get official VST3 migration support.

Have there been changes to the behavior of the Hiss and Azimuth parameters? The Hiss is now consistently mono, and adjustments to the Azimuth settings no longer influence it's stereo width. Linux, CLAP/VST3, Bitwig, Reaper.

No change as far as I know. We'll look in to it!

Satin has been updated to RC2, revsion 15680, fixing the problem with hiss noise being mono that occurred in RC1.
You can download the new RC2 from the first post of this thread.
And thanks to drzhnn for finding this.
