I remember a lot of attention and praise for BiasFX when it first came out. It showed a lot of potential, though it now seems as though it has all but faded away. Even their forum is all but dead. What happened ?

Sorry, but that's oversimplifying things. They have simply been focusing more on their line of Spark hardware amps and have just recently released several new models.

There are pretty good amps in Bias; fx's are good, but I prefer Guitar Rig and NI stuff for creative processing. Bias is also good just for playing.

I also use Guitar Rig....mostly as a multi-fx processor which it excels at. Nearly all the other major players have better ampsims tho IMHO.

I hadn't tried them in a long time, but they recently gave away a plugin, so I figured I'd give it a go. It as unremarkable in most ways, and crappy in many ways. I was surprised at how little the amps sounded like what they were going for, and then I did some pickup emulation thing, thinking that might help, and I ended up with a horribly shrill sound when it was engaged.

When I tried it, I thought the amps were pretty ordinary and the interface was poor, really sluggish (on Windows). Never bothered again.

I have to agree with CL, it seems they dropped the ball with BiasFX and turned their attention to their Spark line. Even their forum is dead... no interest at all. Too bad, had they perused it they might have a descent product.

I thought the modeling was fine but having to log in all the time was a pain. Also, wasn't there an issue with it not saving state as a VST?

They've always been a super dodgy company. They plugin UI's were web based.. yeah seriously. Remember when you couldn't even save presets correctly in your DAW and had to use their built in weird preset thing?
