Better Elaboration for VSTI Recording problems

Hi

My last post was not detailed enough.

Ok, I am still pretty much a novice when it comes to the latest generation of sequencers. I have at my disposal Cubase SX, FL Studio, and Sonar3. As I am a longtime Cakewalk from way back, i find sonar to be the most intuitive for me.

Anyway, I can easily enough load up the vsti (such as Steinberg Groove Agent) and Record that ONE SINGLE TRACK that Groove Agent is on with my own playing on my midi keys (radium 61). I can also get an AUDIO track to record when i set my MIXER to 'what you hear' (but nothing else)

here is what I WANT to do, but cannot figure out :

1 - Record Midi out data from the VSTI using its OWN run buttons. I can easily enough use my keyboard inputs, but anytime I press RUN on a vsti/dxi I cannot figure out a way to record that to midi (only can get it to audio, using WHAT YOu heAR).
2 - RECORD to a second midi track (one that does not have groove agent in it)
