This is what really sells soft synths to me...

I came across this at Soundcloud and think it's worth posting for a listen. He's done an exceptional job!

Check the original - it's so close!
These are his notes:
My cover version of 'Burning Bridges' by JAPAN from their 'Gentlemen Take Polaroids' album.
I used Native Instruments Pro53 exclusively other than Halion SE in Cubase 6.5 for the saxophone solo.
All sounds programmed and performed myself.

Man I love Japan, Richard Barbieri et al. Thanks for sharingHemmick Reef wrote:used Native Instruments Pro53
But the thing is here that nobody can buy Pro53 anymore, it is discontinued by NI. So from a commerical point of view, there will be no sale anyhow

I know it's their code and they have every right to discontinue and vaporize, blah blah blah, but as a compulsive softsynth hoarder I deeply resent their choice to shelf this synthNumanoid wrote:Man I love Japan, Richard Barbieri et al. It's like, oh, you want this, eh? You like that? WELL YOU CAN'T HAVE IT! KEEP YOUR MONEY! There goes my fun little game of collecting every synth ever made

There are users who still want B4, Pro53 or FM7. Couldn't NI include a folder for "Legacy" plugins in Komplete, to meet the need of such users?
Being Legacy it would entail that no support from NI would be offered for such plugins.
But I dunno if NI still would have to pay licensing fees to whoever owns the intellectual property right to Sec Circuits products, and that is maybe the thing that is holding them back...?

I don't think that's the case at all.Numanoid wrote:But I dunno if NI still would have to pay licensing fees to whoever owns the intellectual property right to Sec Circuits products, and that is maybe the thing that is holding them back...?

You could still use Arturia Prophet v instead. Additionally you get the Prophet VS and the hybrid mode. Not to forget you could import Sysex files of both the Prophet 5 and the VS...

For substitutes, I would rather go for Messiah by MemoryMoon

I got Prophet V since it was released in 2006 and i love it. The boxed version also included an USB dongle (Syncrosoft/eLicenser).EvilDragon wrote:It doesn't sound the same.
I have also purchased some commercial Prophet 5 + VS banks and imported them:

With the updates over the years i got the impression that also the sound was improved (currently v2.5.3).

I wanted to say - it doesn't sound like Pro-53, which is really what's in question here.

I just noticed this fine looking hardware controller for prophet5 synths.
The mode machines professor v2
http://www.thomann.de/gb/mode_machines_professor_v2.htm
There is very little info about it , but it is stocked in shops in Germany, England and USA.
A video of the old version:

AFAIK both Kontakt 4 and Reaktor 5 contain a "Pro-53" filter model...BBFG# wrote:Something I hear often from Reaktor users is that it can sound like anything you want it to. Perhaps NI feels this is the case too and therefore the need for a strictly Prophet sound is unnecessary. Or is that wrong? Does it or doesn't it? You can't have it both ways after all...
UPDATE:
Just checked, Reaktor 5 includes a "Pro-52" filter module.
