I just spent 30 minutes with Logic Pro and remembered why I hate it; the interface is the most non-Apple clusterf*ck Apple has ever produced.

That said, I'd like to at least learn it, given that it's bought and paid for. What books are worth purchasing?

I've always found Logic manual a excellent reference.

Why not head over to Groove3 and/or MacProVideo and have it all explained to you on-screen? Helped me understand things like Reaper, Superior Drummer and Kontakt a LOT better.

Thanks folks. The manual was a bit too lengthy, to be honest. and for a guy that's used various DAWs over an period of about 15 years, I'm looking for more of a "cheat sheet" than microscopic detail.

The videos might be a good idea, price permitting. Most of the schooling I need is in Logic's Arrange view and editing functions - I've done enough with bussing and mixing to handle the way Logic does it.

Is it just me, or is Logic even more ridiculously CPU intensive than Live with non-native plugins? I do like a lot of the built-in Logic stuff - their EPs are good. same with their guitar amps.

This book is supposed to be very good:

Note: I've not read it myself, just had a few people recommend it.

Regarding CPU, Logic is very efficient. One of the most efficient hosts around.

Peace,
Andy.

Thanks for the Groove3 tip. :) I checked out their sample videos and damn, they're good. Really good. I bought Logic a while back and moved away from it because the workflow was so obtuse, but I may get back to it with a little training.

I've paid for a number of these videos, but I find that I consult the free ones from

and

just as often.

Cool Victor - thanks!

I want to like Logic, I really do... (Says the guy who bought it 2 years ago.) :P

It's just you... Logic is the best for low cpu usage on the Mac. Nothing comes close... Linear sequencer, instrument tracks, mixer... what's so obtuse? Unless you go into the environment it's like every other DAW.

Then that's when you see the real power of Logic. :-o

I wrote some free manuals for Logic in the past that dive a little bit deeper into specific subjects (Automation, Apple Loops, Audio Devices). Although written for older version, most topics and comcepts are still the same in Logic9
