Thanks Steve

The latency is probably caused by my code that prevents the sequences starting on the swing beat, I'll get my thinking cap on as soon as I've completed the kit code.

No problema Andy

I've still got a couple more hosts to try BM in

Can you say host whore boys and girls? :-)

I'm still having the same issues with beta 6- problems turning on/off effects, and latency.

As far as the latency issue, here's what I've tried in Reaper that hasn't worked-

I'm getting a consistent latency of 559 samples. The changes below have made no difference when rendering offline, sound card buffer setting of 512 or 256 samples (triggering individual drum hits from host piano roll).

1- enabling/disabling anticipative fx processing
2- changing disk read mode- asynchronous buffered or unbuffered
3- enabling/disabling optimized buffering for low latency hardware
4- changing audio buffering behavior from 4 (default) to 8 (aggressive)
5- changing media buffer size from 1,200 samples to 0
6- enabling/disabling synchronous fx multi-processing

I also tried-
7- changing bpm
8- recording live to disk (bouncing)

Later I'll go through all of the plugin options in Reaper to see if they have any effect.

Hate to repot this, but I am having NO problem whatsoever with Beta Version 006. I'm trying.. but for some reason, everything works, and I am accumulating a massive hoard of phenominal Drum Loops and they chop oh so nicely into one shots...

Now off to search for a problem. :!:

Post

I just tried beta 6 with my on-board sound drivers, Sigma Tel direct sound, and I'm still getting exactly 559 samples latency. Why is Reaper not getting a latency report from the plugin? Shouldn't Reaper's auto PDC correct it?

And damn you jdt!

Post

I just loaded 006 for the first time into an empty-new template in Live 7.0.14 and I immediately received the message that a serious error had occurred and Live needed to shut down.

Before installing 006, I deleted the preset folder from the previous beta versions and already had the samples installed in the default location.

Any ideas?

By the way... the family-holiday visits are over, which I'm very sad about, but I will get some time to make some music, which I haven't done much of in the past couple weeks. In other words... Once the beta is up and running, I plan on breaking this black magic loose!

Thanks!

Having fun with BM. Got it running on a jazz track now.
Sorry, no bugs to report yet here.

I'll be getting back to work on it tomorrow, I'm just having a few days off.

Elxicano, can you email me the log report? Should be in your Live directory. thanks. If you could also try it in another hosts that would be handy, track down Cantabile lite v1 which is a free host, I always test in. Also check the config file at c:\HGSounds_Black_Magic.txt to make sure this is pointing to the correct directory. If you did the default installation it would contain c:\HGSounds\

Cordelia - Does the latency change with bpm? does affect just the sequences or the individual drum hits too? I think that there is a bug which causes the sequences to be 2 beats late, which I'll be looking into in the next couple of days.

Thanks all, also nice to get some positive reports as well :))

Maybe I'm late but I tested the first beta & I have a couple of problems:

the effect at the top don't seem to work (drive, reverb, delay, flanger), or maybe I'm missing something?

while triggering a drum sounds with my midi keyboard & click on the reverse button for that sounds on & off & the sound muted itself & never came back.

I've downloaded the latest beta & do a proper beta testing tomorrow with all the needed informations.

Also, a manual, even if it's basic would be very usefull & I have a hard time figuring out how the routing between the effects is done & a couple of other things...

cheers & happy new year!

Andy,

I just realized that the crash happens only when I'm using Asio4All... which is an older version. I'll get back to you about which version it is, but Black Magic works fine through my M-Audio device.

Let me know if you still want me to send you a copy of the text.log file.

Thanks!

Hi elxicano,

I'm also using Live 7.0.14 and I have no problems, I even using with PSP Vintage Warmer and Uhbik-Q loaded on the same track.

Peace,
Alex.

Thanks...

I think this a problem with the version of Asio4all I have.

Because I've been visiting with family, I was using Asio4all to keep things portable. I'm home now and everything seems to work fine. I've already open/closed, and re-added black magic to see if I could recreate the same problem and thankfully, the answer is no... its all working good now. :)

Okay... sorry for the delay, but the version of Asio4all I currently have is 1.8 beta 1. I'm going to install the latest and give another run with Black Magic to see if the same problem occurs with asio4all 2.9.

...same problem with 2.9 :(

I'm going to email the log for the latest session (with the crash).
