Latest News, Product Listings and Discussion for Audulus.
This is such a good modular environment for learning synthesis, making music and effects and, now, in Audulus 4, creating multi-touch control surfaces (with LUA scripting) for internal and/or external instruments over MIDI. No other modular environment is so immediate and deep at the same time, in my opinion. It makes for a great teaching tool as well, for both scriptable and graphical approaches to synthesis. The community is also very active and helpful.
It has its limitations. Audio and MIDI settings are suprisingly modest, and some parts of the user interface could be optimized for better usability imo. The desktop app does not host VST/AU plugins, and being an AUv3 has its limitations. But these limitations does are trivial when you let Audulus be what it wants to be; a playground for learning and building instruments and effects, completely from the ground up, or in combination with modules built by the active and growing community.
Great app.
Easy learning ramp. Halfway between an object based programming language and a virtual modular environment, it can actually be used in both ways and all in between. Nice look, and an active support and community.
Audulus 4 introduces amazing awaited features and deeper building possibilities, like the Lua script based Canvas node. I love the new performance mode (with multitouch), and multi-channel patch wires.
Read ReviewI tried out many modular apps on iOS and couldn't resist on the highly praised audulus but I am disappointed for the following main reasons:
- no multitouch support (REALLY?!?)
- the UI is nice to look at but very hard to work with. You always have to zoom in and out.
- no real XY-Pad.
The community is great but that's all for me. It is not intuitive and counter productive. Sorry.

Audulus 4 now supports multitouch - and not only that, you're able to create your own multitouch surfaces (see pictures above).
As for zooming in and out, when you have multitouch selected, it will fix the zoom size for you :).
There is now an XY pad node and module.
Glad you think the community is great! We do as well. If you want some help getting started using Audulus 4, come on over to our discord, we'd love to have you there.
