Claro

This is an inspired plugin. The workflow with Claro is so well thought out that it is now on every channel in all my projects. Shape sound with the simplified mode, all without ever increasing or decreasing your gain, then tweak as needed. The mix page is a real eye opener too and easily allows you to spot conflicting frequencies across your project.

This is right up there with Fabfilter's Pro-Q 3, but I actually find myself more comfortable with Claro. The simplified labeling for frequencies and the fact that all instances are aware of each other when working on mix mode, just make the whole EQíng second nature and feels a little slicker than Pro-Q 3. You're not getting dynamic bands or linear phase filters but then again, those aren't features I use all the time.

This sounds fantastic, feels fantastic and is an absolute pleasure to work with.

Obsession

I consider Obsession along with U-He's Repro to be the ultimate in virtual analogue synth plugins. It 'plays' and 'feels' like hardware and just feels alive in general. It's simple on the outside, as an analogue synth should be, yet deceptively deep when you start digging around with voice tuning and the step LFO's. It's a fantastically polished and well optimized piece of software with a surprisingly minimal footprint when it comes to taxing your system too.

Highly recommended.

My go to G-Series bus comp. The new features in version 2 really bring up to speed with the competition.

Fantastic reverb. Great sounding, super flexible. The sidechain compressor is a really nice addition for ducking the reverb under the input signal with no extra routing within your DAW.

Memorymode

Another great release from Cherry Audio. I have all of their previous stand alone synths and this is my favorite by a long shot. It's far more flexible than the Juno and yet still super simple and fun to program without having to get into patching things manually like the ARP and MS20 models they've done. I've always been surprised that the Memory Moog hasn't been modeled in software more seeing as it's counterparts, all the legendary poly synths from the early eighties such as the Jupiter 8, Sequential Prophet 5 and Oberheim OBXa, have had numerous iterations released in software form from various developers over the years.

They've added some additions not available in the original hardware which are much appreciated in the form of additional fx. The GUI is clean and intuitive, it's fairly lightweight in the resources department and it sounds fantastic. This feels very much like U-He's Repro to me (the design of the Moog and Prophet are not far off, though the Moog does have the extra oscillator available), which is big compliment from me seeing as it is one of my favorite VST's of all time. I'm not sure it's quite as polished in certain respects like the FX, but like with most of Cherry Audio's synths, at $49, Memorymode is an absolute steal. I'd highly recommend picking this up.

MIDI Footswitch - FS3

I recently received both the expression pedal and footswitch from Beat Bars and I've been very impressed so far.

Firstly, and most importantly, the build quality is stellar. The units feel rock solid, and you can really stomp down on these with confidence. The build consists of an exceptionally durable, powder coated metal chassis with plush foam padding under the units.

Aside from the obvious build quality and price, one of the main draw cards here is how these operate. Unlike other expression pedals, these are MIDI enabled and programmable meaning you do not need a quarter inch expression input on your controller for these to work. They transmit via MIDI cable or USB (Switchable via a toggle on the so could be connected directly to your DAW and can effectively be used with multiple controllers at once without having to disconnect and reconnect them.

Programming the pedals is simple and done by downloading the setup app. One quirk which I found odd was currently you cannot program both simultaneously via the app. One needs to be disconnected before setting up the second. Technically its not a huge issue since you really need to only program them once, but it would be great if this were corrected in a future update.

I have the expression pedal set up to control expression amounts in addition to dynamics control on my mod wheel for orchestral libraries, which works great. The footswitch is flexible too allowing you to send a multitude of MIDI messages as well as program change information which I thought was super useful. The switches are lit by LED's and can be set to both held and trigger modes making this ideal for live looping setups too.

All in all, I think these units are awesome value for money for anyone looking to enhance live playing or integrate extra control via your feet to any live or studio setup.

Probably the most powerful hybrid synth/sampler on the market today rivaled only by the likes of Halion 6. While the sampler component lacks a little of the power in Halion 6... the sheer number of synth modules and FX as well as a way more friendly UI puts this at the top of the pack IMHO. There's very few things you can't do with this package. It has a steep learning curve although adding in some of their amazingly well produced add on packs such as Vintage Vault turns this into a very accessible instrument. For sound designers and explorers this is a dream come true. Lua scripting as in Halion is way more friendly than KSP Script... it's a shame this hasn't been adopted by more soundware companies as I feel it out performs Kontakt in almost every way. The new scripts and FX in the latest update are nothing short of incredible... hours of fun can be had with the new arpeggiator script with some insane control over repeats, randomization, polyrythmic elements and probabilities.
