Versilian Studios: 10th Anniversary & New Website
After a lengthy development process, we're pleased to share our new website with the world! Relocated to https://versilian-studios.com/, this change also includes a re-designed logo along with changes to typography and brand colors, all to coincide with the 10th anniversary of Versilian Studios and our first product, Tubular Bells.
When I started Versilian Studios in 2013 I honestly had no idea it would last this long or lead to so many great products and experiences. I was just a guy with some borrowed SM57's and a friend's fretless zither thinking "this can't be that hard to sample!" Over the next three years, our tiny team of three would build Chamber Orchestra 2, learning as we went. The Artist and Nouveau series have followed, pushing our samplers and recording equipment to its limits as we strive to create better and larger libraries than the ones that came before.
Over the years, we've worked to keep our online presence up to date and information as clear as possible. The rebuild has been an opportunity for us to re-examine many of our products and how users interact with them.
As part of this study we've made several key changes:
- Our earliest 'Classic Series' instruments have been rebuilt in SFZ format and assembled into an anthology, the Classic Collection, at a reduced price ($49).
- VS Upright has been replaced with "VCSL Keys", drawing from the vastly superior samples within the VCSL project.
- Old freeware such as Miscellania I & II has been discontinued, as again VCSL is superior in every way.
- Tubular Bells, our most popular product, has received a total makeover with brand new samples as Tubular Bells II (don't worry, we kept the original samples there too- and added in the ones from VSCO 2 Pro!).
- Our Support page has been completely reorganized and cleaned up as a 'Questions?' page. Irrelevant questions have been removed and new relevant questions have been added.
- The website is now responsive and will display acceptably on smartphones and tablets.
- Products with system requirements (such as requiring Kontakt) will display a confirmation screen prior to checkout to prevent users from purchasing incompatible software.
- A 'features' section has been added to each product page showing the key features of the product in greater detail.
- An updated and human-readable Privacy & Usage page now contains all policies regarding privacy, terms of use, tracking, and refunds.
- A 'Legacy' products page has been added to house and document all discontinued and April Fools products.
I owe a huge thanks to all of our customers, colleagues, musicians, contractors, and testers, without whom none of this would be possible. Thank you.
