Fairly radical changes afoot at Stylophone; they announced a theremin a couple of weeks ago, and now a patchbayed-up mini synth aimed at drones...

Synth is portable and battery powered with speaker, (and I like that chunky case design) but also Eurorackable. Dual CEM 3340 oscillators, dual CEM 3320 filters. £209 on preorder, so round about the same as a pest/beast.

edit : also a PT2399 delay and a built-in reverb!

Yeah, I thought drone was quite an interesting focus as well...

Seems like a great Eurorack companion, look like the osculators have pitch input so could put it through a VCA with an envelope and use it as as a more normal voice as well I guess...

I like it. I don't need it, and I'm going to be good and not buy it and give my Strega a hug instead. But I like it.

I still feel like it should have a VCA or two (nothing about being drone-oriented says you can't find uses for VCAs), and more patch points. The filters appear to be hardwired to the oscillator outputs, so you can't use them serially, or patch feedback from the delay output back through a filter, or get them self-oscillating so you effectively have 4 oscillators, etc.

But I know to keep it small and cheap there have to be compromises and it still seems pretty great at that price.

I like. I don't need it, and I HAVE NO SELF CONTROL WITH SHIT LIKE THIS --- PREORDERED!

New demo video. Some passable Hawkwind/VCS3 scifi wibbles in there.

Yes, just saw this! Nice, and there will be more like this soon- I like the grooves on the sides.
Going to give Korg's Volka line a run for the money I'll bet.
