Looking for a MIDI looper

Hi.
I'm a novice wind controller player. When playing as a guest at some family party, I would like to be a "one-man orchestra" - at first, play a track with one instrument, then switch to another MIDI channel and play another instrument while the first one is being played back.
The computer and the speakers will not be near me, I might be physically sitting at a dinner table and playing. The computer might even be "headless" (no screen, preconfigured to start up all the needed software automatically on boot). I want to control the looper remotely using MIDI commands. For example, it could use keyswitch mechanics - using the lowest MIDI notes as commands to start / stop / record / delete the last recorded clip.
I thought that for sure someone should have created such a simple automatable MIDI looper, but somehow I cannot find any. Do I need a full DAW for this? And is there even a DAW that supports automating start / stop / record / delete last clip using MIDI Note On commands?

I see two parts
- a controller to have some kind of synth switch preset
- a normal audio looper pedal
For controller maybe a foot controller sending your midi stuff from Behringer FCB1010 or similar. Cost $150 or so.
- if wind controller easy swap midi channel this might not be needed either
https://www.sweetwater.com/store/detail ... er-fcb1010
For looper pedals there are plenty to pick from. I got a Boss RC-5 which has many features and cost about $200 or so. It does midi control too apart from simple expression or footswitch and has a backing track slot for own files to load and 128 presets and a drum machine.
For instruments there are various options too, if you did not decide on computer based already maybe.
- multipart synth/entertainer keyboard or sound canvas as Roland has etc
Just some ideas...

There are tons of audio loopers. A midi looper would have the advantage to mangle the Midi or play a different sound than before. I am not aware of a decent Midi looper, but I think you could get some clip based sequencers to do it somehow…
Its an interesting topic, if we could keep audio looper suggestions out of it…

Two other (non-VST host) midi based loopers are:
Sequetron
http://www.philizound.co.uk/freebies/so ... n.html?i=1
Seq66
https://github.com/ahlstromcj/seq66
Midi out from these apps could be routed to VSTi plugins open in another host app, i.e. VSTHost
https://www.hermannseib.com/english/vsthost.htm
through a virtual midi cable, i.e. LoopMidi
