Hi all,

I've been looking into measuring the highest volume peak (or when a threshold is passed) of an incoming sound.

I am working with orchestral sample libraries, and instruments almost always have a short pre-delay before the actual tone starts - and it would be awesome if it was possible to display the time from the midi note is triggered till the tone hits max volume (or a defined threshold level).

But I really can't figure out how I can make a "greater than" evaluation of the incoming signal?

The functionality must be in there somewhere ... it appears to be similar to what is used in the compressor modules.

Any ideas? (or does anyone know of a similar plugin?)

I'm not sure whether this will help. I've used a test sine wave generator as a fixed source in this project - obviously, you'd replace that with your sample.

The output is a MIDI CC value that switches depending on the audio level, audio envelope follower threshold and modulation sample & hold settings.

To get the timing, use a trigger event to play the sample, use the same event to trigger the modulation sample & hold module and record both the trigger event and the MIDI CC event.
