(Beginner) Can't get no sound from waveform to the main out

I use waveform 12 on a notebook with a Behringer UMC 1820 asio sound card. I'm trying to build a live mixing set up for a concert with some fx buses, a monitor/aux bus and a pfl bus.

I have set audio settings to asio, have chosen my sound card and enabled its in and outputs, have started a new project, have armed track one for recording (input one).
I can see some input signal on the track meter but none on the mains meter so nothing can be heard so far.

I thought all tracks were routed by default to 1-2 out?

Enable live input monitoring? Click on the input rectangle/arrow on the left side and tick the box for "Live Input Monitoring" in the panel that opens bottom middle.
