I can't be the only one to notice that since the new format
THE SEARCH FUNCTION STINKS!!!!
For example: limiting a search under the following parameters
Effect
TAG: preamp
Windows
Free
...this yields 4 plugins. It was not like that before; search was much more exacting.
Not scolding... just venting. Happy joy joy!

You're not the only one.
Before the redesign everything worked perfectly fine,
you could show plugins of the specific types, like only additive synths for example, within a specific price range, filtering out everything made in "save as a plugin" type of modelling environment, sorted by user rating, and it was pretty helpful.
This new search/filter isn't capable of that.
It's broken.
