Sounds about like my drums. Very painful to concentrate that hard. Also due to everything above.

Because I failed to rock, I feel it is uncouth to roll out an official vote. But here are my reviews of your divine offerings this month.

Wagtunes - Kick In The Head

Rock Factor: Fun and airy a la The Cars circa. 1982
A well-structured, proper pop tune. Props for putting your own vox forward.

Donkey Tugger - Once Upon...

Rock Factor: Rageful and Crisp a la Soundgarden circa. 1997
Great riffs. Fantastic production. Thoroughly enjoyable.

Hellfog-Hombres...

Rock Factor: Like an ELO production of a rock guitar Instrumental
Truly strong production, mix and composition. My #1 fwiw

Beanpole- If You Want It

Rock Factor: Earnest Indy Underground Rock a la Minneapolis 1990
I imagine this is what it would sound like if The Replacements did their own homage to KISS. Nice, live band feel.

Tbase2000-Hurricane

Rock Factor: Metallic and Slaying a la Metallica and Slayer
If I heard this on a classic metal channel I'd think it was a missing demo from the golden era. Very well done indeed.

Vurt- Testungbull

Rock Factor: Gloomy guitar dirge a la ??? a Josh Homme side project
Enjoyed the raw emotion of the progression and melody

The Noodlist-Living In Dreamland

Rock Factor: Raw and Numb like a Neil Young meets Gilmour for a duo in 1977
More like an excerpt of something than a tune. But enjoyed the various guitar ideas, ranging from growling power chords to reverby slide to singing pentatonics

Mr. Natural-Pinnochio in California

Rock Factor: jangly, surf inspired poetry of unknown origins
Most unique entry in many ways, from both a songwriting and craft perspective. Not sure of what to make of it all but enjoyed the experimentation.

Kryptonaut- Heavy Iron Woman

Rock Factor: Coming Down The Mountain!
Deep Purple meets The Crystal Method in a wonderful romp in a Vegas bedroom, spawning this heavy bastard. great

Laguna Rising - The Swamp Wizard

Rock Factor: Prog rock in the age of progress
Another unique blend of sounds, textures and song construction. Like a soundtrack to the journey into the circuit board of binary sounds (whatever the heck that means--it was my thought)

Farlukar- Hastel

Rock Factor: Nails The Nine Inch Nails a la Dead Souls
Sultry bass groove, savvy guitar processing and powerful drums. Very Cool

Glad I didn't vote. A lot of great rock stuff from a forum of synth wankers ;)

PS (edit) I think I could not find one song...was one removed??

Wagtunes - Kick In The Head
Bright, positive thinking, a nice progression.
donkey tugger - once upon a time in west yorkshire
Evil lurking in the dark, cool riff, groovy
beanpole - If You Want It
Lo-fi aggression, basement based kind of rock, fine composition.
Tbase2000 - Storm
Weird original guitars, not heavy but distorted, expressive+pleasant vocals
vurt - storm in a bongbowl
Acid adventures in Vurtland, very nice trip indeed.
per99 - Living In Dreamland
Moderate aggressiveness, mellow vocal line, well crafted guitars
The noodlist - No name
Sweaty, electric, well refined guitar-based cool tune
Hellfog - Ombres de tous les monstres du bonheur
Night owl at the halloween party in a deconsecrated church
Mr Natural - Pinochio in California 2.0
Expressive vocals with a touch of noir vibe, surfish guitars and A+ melodies
Kryptonaut - Heavy Iron Woman
Fun organ, synthetic voice, driving rhythm: simple but effective
Hivkorn - forever dirty
Almost hypnotic, pounding groove thing.
Farlukar - Hastel
Complex rhythm guitars, brainy and subliminal, strike in a subtle way: sophisticated

Just some notes I made as I was listening through everything last night.

wagtunes - Starts off strong. Rhythm guitars and drums sound great. I don't like the synth sound and the lead guitar needs some delay and EQ to help it sit in the mix. Vox aren't great but I applaud you for putting yourself out there. Chorus is catchy.

donkey tugger - Into goes on for a bit too long and doesn't really set the scene for what's to come. Kickass riffs that sound like a metal version of Southern rock. Not a fan of the overly distorted vocals and the mixing could use a little more work.

beanpole - Sounds like a garage recording. I guess that's what you were going for? Lyrics are a little cheesy but that's a great vocal performance and I like the lead guitar during the chorus.

Tbase2000 - Sounds epic and heavy af at the beginning but the main guitar tone starts to be less welcome as the song goes on and it reveals itself to be fairly cheap sounding and overly fizzy. Haha, is that your James Hetfield impression? Cool back and forths on the guitars but I wish the guitar tones and the drum sounds were better.

vurt - Neat atmospheric intro...oh ok actually that's the whole song, huh.

per99 - This is one of the best sounding entries and it's done almost entirely with free stuff. Very cool. It's a little soft for ROCKtober for me though!

The Noodlist - Laid back Southern rock jam track. Good guitar parts but it's a little too laid back with how loose the timing is.

Hellfog - Really interesting piece. Kind of space-rocky. Oooh, I like the part that begins at 1:20. I thought the intro and the break were a bit long. 2:15-2:30 was great and I wish you'd developed that a little more to be the ending but I understand why you ended it the way you did.

Mister Natural - Good guitar playing and singing but the rest of the song doesn't move me. It's slow and very little is going on with the drums. Also I think there is too much reverb, even for surf rock.

kryptonaut - The first few seconds sounded epic but that guitar tone :(

Laguna Rising - Intro is beautiful and showed lots of promise. I didn't like the rest of it.

hivkorn - This track was not found. Maybe it has been removed — Learn more

farlukar - I appreciate the odd time stuff you're doing. Guitar tone is overly fizzy. Neat jam session kind of thing.

Not sure. Can anyone else here pull off a James Hetfield vocal? I think Im just an angy asshole like him. Probably washed up just the same. Metallica born and bread. No apologies.

Who are you again? I dont think we have met. Another Doctor of something in here. Thank you for your listen and mostly for commenting on everyones entry. That really is the ultimate prize.

It would be very interesting to hear your opinion regarding my entry Living in Dreamland! (My own opinion of my tune: Rocky verse, but a little to less rocky chorus. Maybe too loud bass?)
To be is to do — Socrates.
To do is to be — Jean-Paul Sartre.
Do be do be do — Frank Sinatra.

I wright down a few words if I can manage to say what I mean in English:

Vurt: Avant-garde rock. Messy, in a way. I liked it.

Beanpole: Very good rock-voice. Aggressive. Costello mixed with Aerosmith and Slade in the verse? Don't know how I could describe the influences in the chorus.

Donky: Marvellous guitar-sound, but very little melody / structure.

Mister Natural: Extremely basic, in a way. I got surprised.

Wagtunes: Very well-structured tune. I liked the bridge – in the way it is connected to the rest of the song. Your voice could be a little more steady.

Farlukar: Very rythmic. I couldn't really hear any “melody” at all, but on the other hand it was a pleasant entry to listen to.

Kryptonaut: You are a skilled musician. But in this case your entry is to much a playground and to little a rock-song.

Noodlist: If your drumplayer hadn't playd off-beat all the time, I had ranked you higher.

Tbase: I can hear your skill. In this case my ranking regarding this particular song depends on my personal taste / preferences. The song is just to intense. I listened to it once. The next time I almost got a headache because of the intense-ness. So I interrupted after a minute or two.
