Try an an Spector bass with EMG's and rotosound strings through an SVT rig and then add an SansAmp PSA for the grit/dirt of the sound sound.

If you can not play bass yourself then either a nice sample library, preamp/poweramp and convolution speaker cab/mic or find somebody who can play and has a nice setup already. The latter is the best option but if it aint possible then awesome results can be achieved with the former and good programming attention.
