Chocolate Audio started its operations in early 2003 when Simone Coen, the company founder, entered the studio to sample top-studio-cat Elio Rivagli's drum kit for his own work. The results turned out to be so good that he decided to deliver it to a wider audience. Imperial Drums, marketed by Scarbee, was born.
The XL version of Imperial Drums was honored with 5-stars on Sound On Sound and with a very good review on the now-gone Virtual Instruments Magazine, where SID XL is mainly praised for its quality and lifelike rendition of its samples.
Starting 2006, Chocolate Audio worked mainly for third parties or joint publications: our work can be heard on Native Instruments Battery 3, SONiVOX's Loop Line, Arobas Guitar Pro 6, Ableton Live Session Drums, Cakewalk Rapture Pro 2, Steinberg Groove Agent 4 (and many of its expansions) and HALion, Presonus StudioOne 3 and Fxpansion's Imperial Drums BFD, among others.

It sounds very good, with many drum kit and individual piece options, and the patterns included are useful. It was easy to drag and drop and then edit in order to arrange a song. I especially like the British versions of the drum kits. They have a good impact with tight kicks and snares.
The only negative thing is that the mixer page and preferences tabs that were in the demo video are not included in the product, and also, the setting he demonstrated of having a fill in every 2, 4 or 8 bars option is not there either. This is a very stripped-down, simplified version.
