Jack O'Donnell, owner of Numark Industries, Akai Professional, Alesis, Alto Professional and ION Audio, has announced the acquisition of Sonivox, a software company that specializes in developing virtual instruments, sound libraries and synthesis technologies for musicians, composers and producers.
Founded in 1993, Sonivox has designed and developed innovative music software technologies and applications for desktop and laptop computers as well as mobile devices. Sonivox's work can be heard in a wide array of products, including its own line of soundware and virtual instruments available for Mac and Windows PCs and its embedded music technologies found in music synthesizers, mobile devices, and more.
In addition to the continued development of a robust lineup of Sonivox branded software products, the company's expertise will be immediately leveraged by the group to bring more products to musicians, producers, DJs and consumers. The group's brands, including Numark, Akai Professional, Alesis, Alto Professional and ION Audio, will also be bringing products to market that directly leverage Sonivox's experience in soundware and software development.
"Sonivox fits our vision of how music is made today, and will be made in the future," said Jack O'Donnell, president and CEO of Numark Industries. "We've been at the forefront of the computer music revolution, developing controllers that seamlessly integrate with a wide array of music software. Sonivox adds to our toolbox and allows us to develop even more fully integrated hardware/software systems. The recent launch of our MPC series of integrated hardware & software music production tools is a perfect example of how Sonivox's library of soundware and software expertise will help create tremendous value for musicians, producers and performers."
