Slate Digital has released its latest plug-in: the RC-Tube console emulation.
RC-Tube is an emulation of a classic 1950s all tube broadcast console. It consists of two plug-ins: Virtual Channel (applied to mixing channels) and Virtual Mixbuss (applied to master fader). The RC Tube Channel is intended to be placed on the inserts of mix channels, and the RC Tube Mixbuss is intended as the first insert on a master fader. Together, this plug-in package is designed to recreate the sound of a vintage tube mixer, giving a mix the rich, fat, warm, and deep tube sound.
Slate Digital CTO Fabrice Gabriel employed new analog modeling techniques to capture the sound of this classic tube mixer in the digital domain. Using the same techniques required to model the four analog consoles in the Virtual Console Collection plug-in, Fabrice managed to emulate the exact sonic characteristics in a non-linear and dynamic way, including such precise details as tube saturation response and crosstalk.
