SubBass Academy of Electronic Music have teamed up with Roland to launch the world's first AIRA Academy.
Taught using Roland's range of AIRA production and performance gear, students will progress through a 16-hour course covering essential production techniques including synthesis, beat creation, sequencing, arrangement and effects.
The inaugural course – AIRA 101 – will be taught by Fabio Lendrum, the DJ/Producer whose work has been championed by key music industry players including Pete Tong and MistaJam. Fabio's busy DJ schedule has seen him play sets at Fabric, Matter and XOYO, along with radio airplay on BBC Radio 1 and Kiss FM.
The AIRA range of music production equipment includes the TR-8, the reimagined versions of Roland's classic TR-808/909 drum machines, the SYSTEM-1 which recreates some of Roland's classic analogue synths, the TB-3 which is a remake of the very famous 80's acid house synth TB-303, and the VT-3 - the Vocal Transformer which is a descendant of the Roland BOSS VT-1. Launched last year, the AIRA family was an immediate hit with producers thanks to flexible, hands-on control and easy integration in DJ sets.
Students will be learning on the same AIRA gear used by artists ranging from Todd Terry and DJ Pierre to SBTRKT, Eats Everything, Goldie and of course, the legendary Afrika Bambaataa. Students attending the course will also get exclusive discounts on the AIRA range.
