Korg has updated the Editor / Plug-In Editor Software for the hardware X50 and microX synthesizers to version 1.0.2. This update fixes a number of issues with previous versions and now includes Mac OS X Universal Binary support.
This software allows you to edit the X50 in a stand-alone operation, or it can run as a plug-in editor in an AU, VST or RTAS environment.
Changes:
- [Improvement] The Browser section has been improved to make selecting sounds easier. In this version, the Category Select and Bank Select functions are automatically enabled when either a Category or a Bank is selected from the pop-up menu.
- [Enhancement] In the Program mode Play page, numeric values can now be viewed and entered when editing the value of parameters in the Performance Editor (Octave, Stretch, OSC Balance, Level, Attack, Decay, IFX Balance, MFX Balance).
- [Enhancement] In the Combination mode and the Multi mode Play page, numeric values can now be viewed and entered when editing the volume of each timbre and track.
- [Enhancement] In User mode, selecting the REALTIME CONTROLS knobs (in the upper-right corner of the editor screen) will automatically open the Knob B Assign edit page.
- [Improvement] If the automatic data synchronization between the editor and the instrument fails when the editor is launched, a new on-screen dialog will ask if you want to retry synchronizing the data.
NOTE: If you click another window or other location while the retry dialog is displayed, the retry dialog may be hidden from view. If this occurs, use the task bar to bring the retry dialog to the foreground, and then complete the operation. - [Enhancement] In the Program mode, numeric values can now be entered/viewed when editing the Filter1/2 EG parameters, making it easier to fine-tune these settings.
- [Enhancement] The parameter that operates the OCTAVE key on the actual microX hardware panel has been added to the Arp/Controls page in Program, Combination, and Multi modes.
- [Enhancement] The parameters that operates SW1/SW2 on the actual X50 hardware panel has been added to the Arp/Controls page in Program, Combination, and Multi modes.
- [Improvement] The movement of the modulation wheel in the editor screen has been changed. The upper half of the wheel corresponds to the + Y axis of the joystick. The lower half of the wheel corresponds to the - Y axis of the joystick. This way, the joystick motion of the microX can be displayed.
- [Enhancement] New "native" application file types for loading and saving have been added. The following list shows the new file types:
- Bank Program (*.Xbankprog)
- Bank Combination (*.Xbankcombi)
- All Drum kit (*.Xalldkit)
- 1 Drum Kit (*.X1dkit)
- All Arpeggio Pattern (*.Xallapat)
- 1 Arpeggio Pattern (*.X1apat)
- All Ext.Control (*.Xallextc)
- 1 Ext.Control (*.X1extc)
- [Improvement] It is now possible to load application files (.Xall files) of the old format that were created and saved using the previous version (v1.0.0 and v1.0.1).
- [Enhancement] When editing the key zone or velocity zone, you can now enter the value directly from the microX/X50 keyboard. To use this new feature, double-click on the corresponding parameter. This puts the parameter into a "standby" mode. Play the correct note/velocity on the microX/X50 keyboard and press the "ENTER" key on the computer's keyboard.
- [Bug Fix] When exporting data from X50 to a .PCG file for use with the KORG TRITON series, the contents of the converted file may have been slightly altered. This has been fixed.
- [Bug Fix] In the Multi mode, the MIDI indicator of every track would always respond to the MIDI channel message being sent to the editor software. This has been fixed.
- Various other minor bugs, display anomalies and functions have also been fixed and/or improved.
