FXpansion has released BFD Converter, a simple and easy-to-use utility application that allows owners of BFD to use sounds from Toontrack's Drumkit From Hell Superior and Custom & Vintage. The Converter software creates new BFD-format sounds from the Toontrack data installed on your hard disk. The converted Kit-Pieces will appear in BFD's Chooser Panels like any regular BFD Kit-Piece. You can choose to convert only certain kit pieces, or just hit the Convert All option.
The following Toontrack soundsets are supported:
- Drumkit From Hell Superior Drummer
- Drumkit From Hell Superior Cocktail
- Drumkit From Hell Superior Percussionist
- Custom & Vintage
At this time, Toontrack's EZ drummer and the forthcoming Superior Vintage add-on pack for Custom & Vintage are not supported, as these packs use Toontrack's proprietary data format.
Due to certain differences between the BFD format and Toontrack's formats, it is not possible to perform a 100% translation. Please make sure you read the BFD Converter manual which explains how the sounds will differ.
Note that you must own BFD and the Toontrack libraries in order to use this utility. No sounds are provided - BFD Converter simply converts the Toontrack sounds to BFD format.
BFD Converter is available for Windows and Mac OS X and costs $45 / €35 / £25.
