"(These limitations exist because MIDI Generate/Transform devices made in Max don't have direct access to incoming MIDI notes played with your keyboard, so the Link device sends this information into Note Cursor. I expect this is just a temporary problem and I'll fix it when possible.)"

It would be awesome if Ableton does a future update allowing this to be done. Would open up even more possibilities for M4L developers.

Expression Control, comes bundled with Live.

Thank you for your suggestion Dalle.
Expression Control let you map either keytrack or pitchbend separately, but not pitchbend + keytrack as a single modulation source.
