I just bought that one - the Taylor Dupree Small Winters CD which also comes with Puremagnetik Small Winters VST. The VST is described as a "Granular Splice Multitrack". I've been playing with it yesterday and today and it's a lot of fun - great for producing atmospheric sounds. Although I am still trying to figure out what some of the controls actually do.

@bagpipe200

Just hit the '?' and all functions & controls will be explained.

@simmo75

On the Desktop - version there doesnt seem to be any Resize - function?

I see the new offering from Tracktion seems to have some granular synthesis stuff in it:

Yeah but this thread is for granular effects, not synths.

Still Crusher-x for me by a mile.. (I do use it more as a synth than as an FX though).

Their plugins are all the same, I don't understand their portfolio lol
I agree with so many of the comments about PM in this thread!
I love their plugins but yea, they overlap, and they lack important little things.
They are so close to amazing..

Does anyone know;
From that video, it looks like this does not process live audio, only what is recorded into the buffer with that switch. Is that right?

This thing is a bit of a remix to this devs free release from github that I posted a few pages ago.
And gosh, its frustrating, cuz it is so close to really kind of special amazing thing.... processing four channels of live audio into an automatable grain box.., but somehow both that freebie, and this one, seem to miss the crucial functionality to make it an amazing usable tool..
Its a very cool and affordable suite of stuff, but it just could be a lot more with some tweaks.

Like… the ability to clear the buffer and start over without having to delete and reinstantiate a new instance of the plugin? :lol:

You play a track into it, record three segments, then dick around with them. Not very interesting so far, which is pretty much how I find all their plugins. Others of course do wonderful things with their plugins, but not me and they are on my never bother with them again list. The sort of stuff where you end up spending more on a bunch of little things than you would just getting something really good from the start

Yea I guess so, but tbh thats not a huge thing to me for little widgets like these.
With that github thing, its like almost an incomparably unique tool, but the entire potential is borked probably by a single line of code...?
Yea also, to the other posters points about PM; I left a question on that github a while back, and it has not been replied to...

Ima go on about PM, in case he ends up reading;
He has these two other tools that I think were the $3 bundled thingies-
Coil, and Ember. Imo, both have some absolutely amazing unique things going on. But, they are ideas that were not developed at all. They are, I think, openly 'abandonware'. Kind of little dsp ideas that were thrown in with album releases. Ember is the most frustrating 'proof of concept' thing..

Lore is a huge thing, so I get it..
But, Lore is a bit much for me these days, so these ideas in small packages are a little wasted.

Thanks!
Yep, that is kind of too bad...
If it was just live input, with maybe a buffer clear for zc :wink:

It's in my buy list.
What has been the lowest sale price up to now?
Saw Portal for $66 at Thomann
https://www.thomannmusic.com/output_portal.htm
Very tempting.
Wonder how JRR will do.

Portal does not seem to have a randomizer.
I am spoiled with the randomization capability of Andy's Home Grown Sounds Kontakt instruments.

^ Unless you are getting a better bundle upgrade at Output during the ongoing 50% off sale and want only Portal, for $66 I'd grab it without a second thought (it's the lowest price I have seen).

I may wait for the Best Service sale. -$20 on a $100 purchase.
https://www.bestservice.com/en/portal.html
So Portal and another purchase will beat the $66 price.
But then the Portal sale may be over by then and I will be out of luck.
Also the -$20 on a $100 purchase sale may not happen this year.

My list of Black Friday possible purchases is long so if I miss the Portal offer it's ok.
