I don't need any more "real world instrument" samples so my question would be is there any content in Structure 2 that is along the line of more esoteric samples found in hardware like a Korg 03R/W, Roland JV880, Roland U220, or Alesis S4 Plus ? (I own those four units but rarely ever fire up my hardware these days). In other words samples that can be used to make other worldly sounds rather than just Piano, Strings etc ?
It's hard to believe they could pack those sounds into 8MB of sample ROM back in the day, LOL!!! Look at us now!
Structure 2 has several synth patch categories, in addition to the orchestral elements and other real world stuff.
Many of these patches seem to be borrowed form Hybrid and Xpand. Categories are Synth Basses, Synth Pads, Synth Polys, and Synth Leads.
I pulled up "Hybrid Fat Square Lead" in both Structure and Hybrid and it basically sounds the same, after turning off the FX in both instruments. But other than that and some FX patches, there isn't a crazy lot of other worldly sounds here in the factory kit, unless you get creative and cook some up.
I think you might be much happier with the AIR bundle, where you will get Structure 2, plus Hybrid 3, Loom, and Vacuum Pro, and much more. Lot's of sound mangling potential with that setup.
