Also want a realistic bass guitar! Gotcha with two questions :)

Geesh... For this sound, you could use Sonatina Orchestra on the PC. It's free.
That's probably fair, fmr - the isymphonic video that I posted is basically from right around the time of the product's launch in 2014 - Since then: isymphonic's iap has grown to (10) separate 'packages' putting several gigs' worth of pretty respectable-sounding instrumentation on my ipad. Of course, YMMV - this was just (1) suggestion (in fairness: I just rounded out the app w/the most recent iap, & am pretty jazzed about the overall sound! :tu: )

For anyone who cares - here's the product's webpage:

Those big Western tunes don't mock themselves up, you know.

id suggest to wait till Native Instruments will announce Symphony Series Essentials price. If its price in a price range from 199-399, then its definatly worth to pick.

Also https://8dio.com/ has 40 percent sale (3 days left), they have some amazing libraries.

Sorry, but the NI Symphony Series Essentials is Komplete crap (pun intended). No true legato, only one microphone position, a LOT of articulations missing. I'm a huge NI fan but this is utterly shit. And remember even with the full version there is a lot missing (e.g. Drums). And there isn't even an upgrade from Essentials to full version.

My bet would be Kirk Hunter Diamond Orchestra (on sale) for realistic Orchestra stuff. Or Spitfire Audio's Albion one for ensembles only.

Re 8dio: top notch stuff, but expensive (as almost every orchestral library). Majestica is really great but just like Albion One ensembles only.

Completely off-topic, but those Indiana Jones-ripoff films his son Michael was in the 80s, had amazing soundtracks by Michael Hoenig. The first one (don't rememebr the name) and the second, Jewel of the Nile. Highly recommended to anyone who is into 80s synth soundtracks.

Albion One is absolutely great, but probably too steep for OP's wallet, if EWQL is too. I think Garritan would be the best option here, all things considered.

To be honest i guess its taste. Played around with Kirk Hunter Diamond Orchestra, sounded really bad, low quality samples and sound is unrealistic. It may have more articulations but depending on the orchestral work you do there is no use of that if you have to put alot of work to make them sound realistic. I just personaly think out of the box Symphony Series Essentials is good enough.

It's amazing how diverse opinions can be for one product, any product. One can say it's an amazing bargain and comparable to the big names and another one might something along the lines "it sounds like a 90s expansion card".

Looking at the ensemble setups the Symphony Series is not that realistic.
Don't get me wrong, it sounds really good (the full version of SS). Perfect for the movie/game trailerish, epic stuff. Especially the brass ensemble sounds really good and in the lows can only be topped by Spitfire's stuff. But it's not the most realistic orchestra sound. IMHO the SSE is too reduced for serious work.

Its been around forever, but VSL might still be the most realistic thing out there in the orchestral world.

That's been the impression I've gotten over the years. I don't think I've ever seen anyone bash it criticise it seriously and mercilessly.

Now someone is going to come and bash it as utter crap.

Really, the only thing that's kept me from getting it, is pretty much just the dongle. Why, oh why does it need to have the dongle...

Maybe nobody criticize i be cause it is quite expensive and those using are very busy making soundtracks XD
