I am in a bit fo a hurry, I will be recording some guitar on friday and I need some amp emulation (we don't have mic for recording straight from the amp).

If I had time, and budget, I would probably get Guitar Rig, I searched some options and it seems the best compromise. Other sound better but are more expensive.

But since i didn't plan for this and my local currecy devalued 100% vs the USD I am a little bit limited in budget.

So, I am looking for something under 50 USD that sounds good, maybe has a couple of models. Or maybe there are free options? I am on windows 10 using Live 64 bits version.

Thanks

Depends what sort of guitar sound(s) you want really. Maybe Amplitube or Guitar Rig freebies will do the trick. Thermionik demo is feature unlocked for 14 days and sounds good. Some of the freebies (LePou for example) are good especially for high gain.

some free and good ones are here: http://www.igniteamps.com/en/audio-plug-ins

I don't think Guitar Rig is that much of high quality (I tend to use only the Rammfire amp when I use it)

Nowadays, I'm using some Brainworx amps/plugs instead:
Mega Single and Dual, Bassdude and Rockrack

I know this is over your budget but for my money it's one of the better simple and cheaper (on sale at present) options.

if u are in a hurry and free, you might want to test Plugin alliance amp simulators as they provide 14 days free. there were suggestions above too, but i highly recommend P.A. amp simulator. please take ur time to adjust input gain and power soak, and u will have a beautiful sound.

hope it helps!

Very polished and produced sound without much work, but I find it difficult to get away from that polish if you're looking for something a little grittier. Like it's a bit pre EQ'd and comp'd for you, almost, got some shimmer in the treble that helps note clarity on cleans and lighter dirty stuff but not always what I was looking for.

It's been years since I tried it but back in the 2000s I compared it to Native Instruments GR3, IKMM stuff, ReValver, Softube stuff, even Line6 stuff and it really only topped Line6. I found the included effects to be surprisingly lacking given that Waves is undeniably good at programming FX when they've got a hit idea to work on.

If it's $50 cool, that's a good price for a fully featured sim, but I'd prefer something that sounds better / broader utility and has had a little more attention over the years. There are some monster emulations out there now and we've had GTR3 for nearly ten years IIRC.

Whoops double post! But here's a direct answer to your question earlier:

It compared favorably with Guitar Rig 3 for amp model sound quality, IMO, but Guitar Rig walked on it for features and workflow and had much, much cooler effects even then. I've had GR4 but I don't have GR5, obviously 4 improved on 3 so it's got some amps that sound at least as good as GTR3 and older ones that still don't always win, but by 5 now I imagine they've cooked it up pretty nicely. I doubt GTR3 compares very well at all to Guitar Rig 5 in 2016.

I'm using a lot of IKMM and Scuffham personally right now, though I did recently pick up a little 32-bit only, Windows-only plug called Dr. Gain that does a damn good Marshall sounding but higher range of gain kinda sound. However the platform limitations are a bit of a squeeze there. I really like what Kazrog is up to as well, very high quality and not too expensive amp sims.

I am not insterested in the effect side that much since I will be recording the signal after stomb boxes and I also have good fx plug ins, the most important part are the amps.

I tested some yesterday, hard to decide since I am not a guitarrist and I don't know how a good amp sounds. man it is really hard to choose when you are clueless, I feel like a noob.

Why has nobody mentioned this yet? http://kazrog.com/products/thermionik/

Get the whole demo suite (25 amps), Ingiteamps free convolution plugin and then get a bunch of good free impulses (google is your friend).

Once you've found an amp you like you can buy it for really cheap as a single effect or in packs of five.

By far the best sounding amp sim for the money in my opinion. Way better than Amplitube or Guitar Rig (in a completely different league in my opinion).

I love GTR3 for vintage guitar sound (not modern high-gain metal sounds). And stomp effects are very cool. If you need these, 49$ is a great tag.
