That is not how investors tend to think. By and large they are utter egoists, not altruists.
I like sharing and even more so frugality. It may mean the death of growth, but it is the inevitable way of the future as the planet with its limited resources is getting smaller and smaller in view of the increasing number of humans with all their needs.

Name one person that mentioned stock in this thread that was thinking about investing in a company for the betterment of their employees rather than how much money they'd have made.
Hell, name one person that invests in stocks that thinks that.

I have an interest in becoming rich, but I most probably lack the capabilityI have no interest in becoming rich.
When the OP was posted "AMD's a-comin!!!" the stock price of AMD at NASDAQ was $4.20. Today it is about $10 more than that.
So the OP was like a big flag waving "get on the gravy train", but no, of course I didn't.
If I had $5000 to invest, it would be $50000 today

AMD has been sitting on more than half a billion dollars cash for years. Stock price is just one aspect of the value of a public company.

If you have no interest in becoming rich, how do you obtain that insight?fluffy_little_something wrote:AMD has been sitting on more than half a billion dollars cash for years. Stock price is just one aspect of the value of a public company.

5.2GHz on liquid nitrogen isn't all that impressive though. Kaby Lake is hitting well over 7GHz on liquid nitrogen.nIGhT-SoN wrote:Seems Ryzen pushed beyond 5.2Ghz on all 8 cores! http://hexus.net/tech/news/cpu/102826-a ... res-video/
I'm beginning to think the Ryzen chips are already clocked right near the limit of their capabilities and there'll be little headroom for overclocking.

Last time I used AMD my CPU tower doubled as a furnace and - no matter what I did - an aircraft propeller sound source whenever I fired up... my DAW...
But that was years ago. If it's still a thing when I need to upgrade again, I'll check it.
Remember, DIVA > Omnisphere 2 > anything else you use.

This is another element for me. The noise. My i5-3570K at 4.5GHz is silent most of time, rising to a very gentle whirr when under full load. I'm using a cooler the size of my head to be fair though...Codestation wrote:Last time I used AMD my CPU tower doubled as a furnace and - no matter what I did - an aircraft propeller sound source whenever I fired up... my DAW...

Always a catch with AMD. They are always cutting corners, beit in design or manufacturing. I would suspect anyway. Unfortunately, Cheap isn't the best strategy for this particular market.
Intel does it too, but not where it counts usually.
