The two I use in just about everything :
Synth1
Dexed
Others that get a look in from time to time:
Firebird
Zebralette
Oatmeal
Plex2
and a few of the DSK VSTs, particularly Indian DreamZ and Overture
I don't think I can get up to ten. I spent way too much time playing with everything that came along. Now I just use a few and learn them properly.

I do not know or use many free synths (mainly to do with my poor adaptability to different user interfaces and lack of sound designing skills from my part) but I prefer synths with good set of preset collections. The majority of my works includes using following synths.
1) Synth1 - My go to synth for anything (I almost always start any project with synth1)
2) PG-8X
3) Obxd
4) SQ8L
5) DEXED
6) DVS Saxophone
7) DSK Strings
8 ) DSK Saxophones
9) VSCO 2 Community Edition Orchestral VST
10) Sonatina Symphonic Orchestra VST

Somebody ask me about 'Flintlock Juno-106' - what is the story about this synth - i did watch some videos and it seems decent but read somewhere here in kvr that roland start something against the creator and the synth and it disappear from the free net...not sure what is truth and what urban legend-share if you know something.Cheerz
