Yes. At the moment, only MetaPlugin or Plogue Bidule for loading VST3.
Hello everyone,

The P&M chainer does support VST3.

Hi Nick,
I humbly apologise if I posted wrong information, but here (authorized version, of course) I see no trace of any VST3 FX plugin nor VST3 Instrument. The hierarchy structure for loading plugins that I see is "PM Plugins", "VST Instruments" and "VST Plugins", so, after reading your post, I looked to see if the VST3 plugins and the VST2 plugins shared the same hierarchy, but, I promise you, there isn't a single VST3 plugin or Instrument to be found there (for example, the Antares plugins, which have no VST2 version, on Mac, and I have about 150 VST3 plugins, not counting Steinberg's own ;) ) :? .

This is on Mac OSX 10.9.5

Win 7 64 bit here. Not seeing vst3 instruments or effects here either.

Just installed the 1.1 update and I included the vst3 folder in the scan...

What about AU?
Hello Everyone,

Actually P&M Chainer do not support VST3, only VST2, we are talking about adding VST3 support in the future but there is no time frame.

Regarding AU, we are not planning to support AU because almost all plug-ins on the market are VST & AU plug-ins, most of the AU plug-ins uses internal wrapper to build AU binaries, if not internal, it can be external, in fact a VST plug-in is located inside the AU.component.

Plug-ins that are not VST are actually made by Apple and maybe some other companies, frankly, I don't know.

If you have some AU plug-ins that are not VST, please feel free to post their names and companies who are making those plug-ins and we will be happy to take a look at it.

Today v1.1.0 of PM Chainer has been released fixing a lot of problems, incoming soon, will be version 1.2.0 which will include:
- Standalone Application and VSTi build including around 100 presets for the P&M Plug-ins included into the Chainer.

For now that's what we are working on for the next update.

Let me know if any questions, of course you understand that I'm not looking at the tread all the time, so the best is to contact Plug & Mix and they will forward your comments, messages, etc...

Thank you,

Cheers Bernie.
However, many Logic users tend to only download the AU version of their plugins, so if I understand correctly, these will not turn up in the Chainer.
Hence Logic users will have to start downloading VST versions as well, in order to have them work in the Chainer.
Is this analysis correct?

Also, as for the new Chainer updates, will P&M VIP bundle owners of all P&M plugins be able to get the Chainer without having to download all P&M plugins all over again?

The meters of internal hosted P&M plugins aren't working properly. When i load P&M plugins as external VST they work.

In addition to those mentioned by aMUSEd, there are a few developers (on Mac) who have abandoned VST2 in favour of VST3, so their plugins are only available as AU or VST3 (so, we are going to need at least one of those formats available in Chainer! ;) ).
Ones that come to mind are..
Antares
Cakewalk

Hello everyone and especially vic_france ,

I jumped to a conclusion as I was using Flux VSTs in ProTools 11 on OS 10.10 which is all 64 bit and therefore to me, VST3.

I stand humbly corrected.

Sorry about the misleading info.

No Problem, Nick :)
I'll just invoice you for the hair transplant surgery to replace the ones I was tearing out, trying to get the VST3s to load! :P

I can not reproduce this issue in Reaper Win 7 64 bit. All the Meters of the internal PM plugins work as expected. I'll test next in Sonar. Are there any particular PM plugins I should try ? I've tried several already and they all work. I don't have Live 9 on that computer but do have Live 9 Lite on my laptop. I'll have to install Chainer on it but that will be with Win 8.1 so is there another host you can test with to see if this issue occurs there as well ?

I'll let you know how the Sonar tests go.............. :)

EDIT: Tested in Sonar X3 and FL Studio 11 and the meters work just fine with multiple PM internal plugins. If you could test in another Host or provide more info I'll work on this issue with you. If we can narrow it down a bit it should be easier for their support to fix the issue. :)

Ho-Lee mother of mercy........... :o Does chainer fit my guitar like a glove. I get the main body of my guitar sound from an external hardware unit, a Johnson J Station which provides the Rectified distortion I love but putting Chainer after the input signal, loading Ambiosoniq, EQ'ing to taste and then using Chainer's awesome Spread Knob at about 63 % and boom.........instant guitar Heaven. I've chosen NI's Replika for delay but only because it just seems to fit my guitar sound but either PM's EchoFlex or MultiTap delay would work as well. That's the beauty of Chainer being able to choose whatever effect you want in the chain. The meters really help dial in a sound.

Next I'm going to load up some synths and layer them to see what sounds I can come up with but to be honest I'm having a little trouble putting the guitar down right now...................... :hihi:

Hi Teksonik,

I also have this problem with Cubase 8 and with all internal hosted P&M plugins in Chainer.
The needle of the vu meter is moving to a level and remains like there would be a constant voltage. It is not swinging. The LED indicators are working properly.

Hello vic france,

I hope you read Bernie's response as soon as it was posted, so you didn't get too far with your hair removal.

I'll try to get Elton's John's specialist's number, maybe he can give me a special deal.
