If you have Live and M4L then Dark Synth is worth checking out ...

The new modular OSCiLLot looks interesting too ...

+1 for Eclipsis
I like Surge for weirdness too.

Audio Damage Axon, Sonic Charge SynPlant and Permut8 come immediately to mind as unusual but very interesting concepts.

Ya these are two of my more interesting little synths. Great combo too. I'm really getting impatient for Synplant 2 though as I desperately want host control/automation of the Synplant gene parameters.Nielzie wrote:Audio Damage Axon, Sonic Charge SynPlant ...

I like these quite a bit:

Check out the Laboratory Section.
(I only own the Crank/Hurdy Gurdy but may pick up their "Jennings MK2" on their next sale).

How about Humanoid Sound Systems? I quite like Scanned Synth Pro's random button.

I like a lot Chimera, based only on a white noise followed by filters, which makes splendid atmospheres and pads.
And Triple Cheese, based on comb filters, which makes too superb atmospheres and pads.
And Tone2 FireBird, with its very original HCM synthesis.
All are free.

Someone already mentioned the AAS PM stuff which I like a lot and they also mentioned Kaivo which is also very good. In addition to Kaivo, Madrona Labs also has Aalto which IMO, is like having a Buchla in software. Very unconventional, to say the least.

PSP's PianoVerb is a new discovery for me - free and emulates the reverb of piano strings. Definitely a different verb, but kinda cool.

Xoxos offers several unconoventional yet musical plugins for very little money or even freeware.
Take for exeample his latest synth called Float: "Float features a new oscillator algorithm which explores the region between fixed waveforms and noise. "

The more I hang around at KVR the less music I make.

Harmor is pretty unconventional in its workflow and design and can make some pretty wacky stuff. Spectrumworx along with a good reverb and compressor are sound design heaven. Really though if you want to get nutty grab reaktor. Combine a few of the factory instruments and some of the user library content and you'll be creating really far out sounds like a champ. If you don't want to jump down that rabbit hole there are all the soundhack plugins, uhe MFM, zebrify, and Filterscape, or just a stack of freeware and a modular environment like Mux to do some crazy routing in.
