It's too bad Omnisphere 2 doesn't load up .SFZ because with Camel Audio going out, I'd rather use my SFZ from Alchemy with Omnisphere 2....

I've nearly posted the same thing a few times. :dog:
Ok, I hear you guys. I append it for now and re-edit once it's released.

Yes, it will - box photo here

Eric's also dropped heavy hints that on release there will be a full download option too. I have a feeling the USB version will be a little more expensive, but could be wrong there.

I wonder why they're not doing pre-orders. I figured I'd get it out of the way now, but nothing to click on their site. Seems silly to tie up their servers all on one day.

@Spectrasonics: GEEK SPECS - Total of 2,150 brand new Soundsources in Omnisphere 2. It's 37gb of uncompressed new audio (Lossless size will be about 17gb)

Since the soundsources make up the vast majority of the total size, that's looking like 17-18gb tops of new space needed, which is up some on the first quoted figure of 13gb. Not that anyone will be complaining...
Between the 2,150 brand new Soundsources, new FX and sound creation technologies, the capabilities for new sonic creation should be considerable.

I'm looking forward to tweaking some of my personal samples (finally) as well as the 400 New DSP Waveforms.

Also, now with the Wavetable Synthesis and being able to Morph Wavetables, the capabilities for new sounds is nicely expanded.

Hey Eric, why not start the sales.....Sooner? :)

I also heard that the granular synthesis could be used on not just samples but also the synth oscillators. I wonder what that would be like. I'm struggling to understand how that would be useful in oscillators since oscillators have a constant tone where the looping aspect is smaller than a granular loop would be. None the less, interested.

So where does one buy the Omnisphere 1 for the lowest price?
A quick look: Omnisphere 1 is priced is at $479. A bit high.
I bought Omnisphere for 299 EUR (+ 8 EUR for shipping the box from Finnland to Germany) from http://www.tampereenmusiikki.fi. Another member here mentioned it weeks ago.

Since i can barely understand the finnish on their page i send them a mail and they send me an invoice back. Very cool guys to deal with: very friendly and large-minded.

I know they're still flat out, and now in beta testing. They locked the soundsources a few weeks ago - about 2,000 new ones I think it was - and they're now in the glitch-catching and patch-creation phase. Can't see them suddenly deciding to bring the release forward...

Sorry to hear that you couldn't grab a copy. I guess half europe ordered from them.

I asked them and at least the upgrade from Omni1 will be downloadable, don't know for the whole Omni2 though.

Post

If you guys read the Faq it states no demo and no downloadable upgrade due to the size. This might be for Atmosphere to Omni upgrade though?

Post

Yes, that FAQ is old news. If you go back on the Spectrasonics Twitter feed, I think that there will be entire download options for Omni 2, as well as USB stick. Maybe there won't be an old school disc option at all.

Did you ever use Absynth's cloud filter? Should be similar... and very useful.
