I'm surprised this didn't get more love, it might be older but it's freakin' KILLER! Great synth, don't let the age daunt you in the least.

I think Serum might be your best bet if you only need one, but definitely grab the Z3ta and Palm Wavemapper if you want three different but highly useful wavetable synths.

To be perfectly blunt, if Waldorf's Nave programmers listen to the people trying out their vst demo, Serum might end up bummin'. Nave is in my opinion the one with the most potential, and not just because of the sci-fi gui
Ha ha suck it!

Z3ta+ just lives on and on and on and is just more useful with every new faster, more powerful
computer i upgrade to. it just sounds so damn good...along with my custom GUI, it invites and inspires :D

The skin download is an exe, no thanks. No way I'd run anything from a download site that does that.

Too bad, looks great.

I scanned the zip file with Norton, it's clean. THANKS!

Z3TA can do the wavetable stuff nicely. If only it's filters were a little less harsh...

That can be a really good thing of course. Z3ta can be a lot more subtle than you might think...it does have a fairly good sized learning curve. I'm still learning how to use it multi-dimensionally, and I've been at that synth for years.

I like Rapture, too bad there is not 64 bit on OS X.

I never checked out Rapture, going to for sure now.

Yeah, I would add Zebra to the list. Not only can you create your own wavetables but you also have the OscFX which can be modulated. It's powerful.
Over my life as a synthesist and waveform modulation fetishist I've had countless ideas for wavetables. Not just groups of random waves crossfaded together in order of brighness, but actual wave geometry transformations. Zebra has been the only synth to allow me to easily (and sometimes, not-so-easily, because we're waiting for grid snapping and other features in Zebra 3!) define waveforms and their transformations in both the time and the spectral domain, as spline point morphing or a set of regular crossfades between 16 shapes.

16 may not seem like a lot of waves, but the interpolation does a LOT of work. You can think of the 16 waves as key frames in animation, in reality there are hundreds of "inbetween" waves which can be very dynamic. And as pdxindy points out, there are two oscillator effects to compound the complexity, giving a sort of "3D wavetable" space within which to modulate.

I enjoy Massive, but a lot of the wavetables are just crossfades between two or four waves. Circle doesn't even hit my radar as a wavetable synth. Crossfade between two waves and call it morphing? Chances are, you won't even HEAR that kind of thing in a mix unless it's very sparse. It's more like a kind of tremolo with contrary motion.

Some Zebra action here on my Youtube:

Zebra is terrific, I just have a super hard time dealing with the gui. It always seemed very off-putting and counter intuitive to me. I had a chance to finally purchase it a couple of months ago and bought Diva instead, it's that weird to me.

There's no denying the sound though, which is often supernaturally amazing. And you certainly can go deep on that one.

Well since this has been resurrected, I'll chime in on a small oversight.

Z3TA+ is actually a wave shaping synthesizer, as it doesn't use a index of wavetables for the oscillators. So technically it is not a true wavetable synth :uhuhuh:

Still Largo for me. Serum seems to be damn fine too though, i recently heard some sounds from Serum which literally made me "WOW". Great sound engine, as it seems.
