@vespesian: I don't think I was following at all with 7 so you could be right.

Not only the mixer, but workflow, hot keys, the ASIO Guard, graphics, just to name a few. And it seems like this was upped with the recent release.

I seem to slowly understand why there was/is no demo in either case on day one, but rather 3+ months later...

Thanks, Guillermo ! I was wondering : is there a shortcut for deactivating an instrument track ? I was trying to make a macro with render in place + deactive vsti track, but don't find nothing.
With render in place you can only mute the source but you cannot deactivate the track, there isn't a key command for "Freeze instrument track".

I've been encountering a REALLY annoying issue. In the piano roll, Controller Selection and Functions > Setup intermittently disappears from popup menu. Here's a short thread on it: http://www.steinberg.net/forums/viewtop ... nu#p411377

I love Cubase, but this is the kind of s**t that makes me not want to use it.

How would you program drums? Say Ableton's Drum Rack or FL Studio's sequencer?

You can demo Cubase Elements 7 meanwhile, it doesn't need a dongle:

I guess that the Cubase 8 demo will be available soon.

Just got the upgrade from Cubase 7.5 to Cubase Pro 8 today. Already loved 7.5 but at a first look version 8 seems to be even better. Will take some time to check all new features.

Additionally still got Cubase 7.5 installed (both 64-bit and 32-bit version) and so far all versions seem to work nicely.

FWIW on the eLicenser dongle now there is only one license for Cubase Pro 8. The old Cubase 7.5 license was upgraded by the eLicenser software but the upgraded license still works with previous versions like e.g. Cubase 7.5.

Question - at the lower end of the spectrum, how long do Steinberg typically wait before releasing the 'Elements' version of their new products? I'm impressed by AI 7 that I got free with my audio interface however, being cheap, would prefer to upgrade once this year if it's on the cards.

Am I being thick, or is the update to 8 no longer available at retail and only via Steinberg direct?

I can't see it at DV247, Andertons or JRR Shop

ah just seen this i was just on the steinberg site looking for the demo but no joy here, i remember there was a 30 day trial with other steinberg software but can't find this one.. shame, oh well.

Weird. At least they could have a demo of 7.5.
PS I think I see the problem; if they have a demo you will need a dongle for it, I guess.
