Tone2 Gladiator is quite different than the others. Great for long, evolving pads. If you like to program your own presets then you'll have plenty of fun because Gladiator uses it's unique type of synthesis which is actually pretty nice, entertaining and simply funny :) I remember that creating presets for Gladiator felt just refreshing to me.

The first one that comes to mind without hesitation is Madrona Labs' Aalto. But (and this might create some furious discussion) I also find the Elektrostudio free synth range to be quite unique, in a "we meant to give you classic synth emulations, but this happened instead" way.

Nope, I can't explain the latter either. But my ears are the judge, so...

I don't need a synth with its own character. As long as it has the potential to sound good, I can give it my character by programming charismatic patches :hihi:
